What’s On

For the first time, Kendal Poetry Festival will be a hybrid festival - with events taking place online and at venues in Kendal. Our main festival venue is the Brewery Arts Centre, who have worked with us to develop a digital festival with a range of readings, workshops and discussions simultaneously in person and online.

We will also be hosting the ‘Painting the Poets’ exhibition by artist Clae Eastgate at the Sugar Store Gallery, Brewery Arts Centre, with “Meet the Artist” events running throughout the weekend. Kendal Library will celebrate northern poets in collaboration with New Writing North, and our youngest audience members will be welcomed to the Wordsworth Grasmere Rucksack of Rhymes.

This year, we have a Children’s Poetry strand, headed up by Mhairi Helme, with a full day of events for Kendal schoolchildren taking place at the Brewery and at Kendal’s Outside-In play centre.

There’s a huge variety of events to choose from - open mics to workshops, exhibitions to discussions, poetry readings to afternoon teas. We hope you enjoy browsing through the programme.
