WHAT IS PERSONAL DATA?
Personal Data is any information that can identify an individual. The type of data Kendal Poetry Festival collects includes name, email, and technical data when you visit our website, sign up to our newsletter or comment on our blog. We also have a festival gallery which contains images of people who attend.
HOW DO WE COLLECT YOUR DATA?
We collect your data in couple of different ways; name and email through the Contact Form, when your sign up to our Blog Newsletter or comment on the blog. Both the Contact Form and the Newsletter require your consent before we receive your details.
We also have a festival photographer takes photographs throughout the festival which then appear in the festival galleries. We notify everyone of this at the festival where you have the opportunity to opt out.
We collect your technical data by using a website statistics plugin. We have chosen a plugin that only gives an overall view of traffic to our website and does not collect or store your personal computer data (ie. IP address).
HOW DO WE USE YOUR DATA?
We will only use your personal data where we are legally permitted.
- Contact Form, your email will only be used to respond to your request and will not be added to any mailing list.
- Newsletter Subscription, your email will only receive notification from the Newsletter/Blog.
- When you comment on our blog your name, email and IP address are stored but will not be added to any mailing list.
- Photography, festival photographs will appear on the website to promote the festival.
- Technical Data, we will only assess your technical data in relation to the performance of our website.
You have the right to withdraw your consent for us to hold your data at any time.
Occasionally we do share your personal data in relation to the running of the festival to:
- Service providers ie. IT and administration services.
- Professional advisers ie. designers, lawyers, accountants and insurers.
- HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities based in the United Kingdom.
We only allow such third parties to process your personal data for their specified purpose. All third parties are assessed and required to treat treat your data in accordance with the law.
TRANSFER OF DATA OUTSIDE THE EEA
European law now prohibits transfer of personal data outside of the EEA unless the transfer meets certain criteria. Our website hosting is outside of the EEA - however, we have made sure that they do meet the EEA standards.
DATA SECURITY
If we suspect a breach of personal data we have put a system in place to notify yourself and the ICO as soon as possible.
DATA RETENTION

Tickets & Booking
All Tickets and Bookings are made through the Brewery Arts Centre. They do not share your Personal Data with us except to notify us of who is attending each event. To read their Privacy Policy click here.
