Mary Jean Chan’s first full-length collection Flèche (Faber and Faber 2019) was shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards for Poetry. Chan’s work explores themes of multilingualism, queerness, psychoanalysis and the complexities of maternal relationships. Karen Solie’s fifth collection of poetry, The Caiplie Caves, (Picador, 2019) was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize. It is a dazzling exploration of the links between land and the self, haunted by the figure of St Ethernan, a seventh-century Irish missionary to Scotland. Dove Cottage Young Poet Sophie Hansen will also be performing at this event.
