Kendal Poetry Festival shortlisted for 2021 Saboteur Awards

Shortlist for 2021 Saboteur Awards

We were absolutely delighted and surprised to find out a few days ago that the 2021 Kendal Poetry Festival has been shortlisted for 'Best Literary Festival' in the 2021 Saboteur Awards.

It is particularly lovely as we didn't know that people were voting for us - we've spent the last few weeks writing our Arts Council Evaluation report and preparing for a follow up event (watch this space for more news of this very soon!)

The other shortlisted festivals include Stanza Poetry Festival, Leeds Lit Fest and the Flash Fiction Festival - these are all festivals we hugely admire, and we are absolutely honoured to be on the same shortlist.

Best Spoken Word Show shortlist

We were also very happy to see that Jamie Hale's 'Not Dying' show which we showed during the festival is on the shortlist for Best Spoken Word Show.  Festival Blogger and Festival Poet Hannah Hodgson's pamphlet Where I'd Watch Plastic Trees Not Grow received a special mention in the Best Pamphlet category, and Deborah Alma's anthology These Are The Hands - Poems from the Heart of the NHS also received a special mention in the Best Anthology category.

Voting

Voting opens on Wednesday, April 21st at midday UK time and we'll post details of how to vote here and on social media.  Thank you again to our lovely audience members for voting for us.
