Festival Poet

Kateřina Rudčenková (1976) is a poet, prose writer and playwright. She has written four poetry collections Ludwig (1999), Není nutné, abyste mě navštěvoval (There Is No Need for You to Visit Me, 2001), Popel a slast (Ashes and Bliss, 2004), Chůze po dunách (Walking on Dunes, 2013), a collection of interlinked short stories called Noci, noci (Nights, Nights, 2004). Her short novel Amáliina nehybnost (Amalia´s Inertia, 2021) was nominated for The Magnesia Litera Award 2022. In 2003, she received the German Hubert Burda Award for young Eastern European poets. Her theatre play Niekur was awarded the Alfred Radok Award in 2006 and was staged in Prague in 2008. In 2007, she won a residency for international playwrights at the Royal Court Theatre in London. In 2014, her poetry collection Chůze po dunách was awarded the Magnesia Litera Award, her short novel Amáliina nehybnost got the Literary Award of a weekly Reflex in 2021 and was nominated for The Magnesia Litera Award 2022. Her plays have been translated and staged in various countries. Selections of her poetry have been published in Austria, Serbia, Greece, and the United Kingdom.
