Kerry Darbishire – songwriter and poet – grew up in the Lake District where she continues to live and write in a remote area of Cumbria. Her first poem was published in 1967. After marriage, raising two daughters, writing songs for artistes including Elkie Brookes and Hazel Dean, and latterly, caring for her mother, Kerry concentrated on writing poetry. Since then her poems have appeared widely in anthologies with publishers including Smith/Doorstop, Grey Hen Press, and Candlestick Press, and her poetry has won or been shortlisted in competitions including Poem and a Pint, Mslexia, The Charles Causley and the Bridport Prize 2017. Her two full poetry collections are published with Indigo Dreams: A Lift of Wings (2014) and Distance Sweet on my Tongue (2018). She co-edited the Handstand Press Cumbrian Poetry Anthology, This Place I Know in 2018.
