Karen Lloyd lives in South Cumbria. Her first book, The Gathering Tide; A Journey Around the Edgelands of Morecambe Bay was included in The Observer’s top books of 2016 and won the Striding Edge Productions Prize for Place at The Lakeland Book of the Year Awards. Her latest book, The Blackbird Diaries – A Year with Wildlife, is also a prizewinning publication. She is a contributor to Guardian Travel, BBC Wildlife and Countryfile magazines. Her poetry has been published by Corbel Stone Press and Zoomorphic. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Creative Writing at Lancaster University where her thesis is a book of essays exploring abundance in the natural world.
